Abstract This study aimed to predict internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems in children based on empathy, family communication processes, and mothers’ early maladaptive schemas. The research design was descriptive and correlational. The statistical population consisted of all elementary school children in Yasuj city during the 2022-2023 academic year, along with their mothers. A sample of 361 individuals was selected through multistage cluster random sampling. Data were collected using the Fitzpatrick and Ritchie (1994) Family Communication Patterns Questionnaire, Young’s Schema Questionnaire (YSQ), and Achenbach’s Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). The participants’ scores were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis via SPSS-24 software. The results of the Pearson correlation showed a significant positive correlation between the conformity subscale and internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems, and a significant negative correlation between the conversation subscale and internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems. Additionally, a significant positive correlation was found between the components of early maladaptive schemas (including disconnection/rejection, impaired autonomy/performance, impaired limits, other-directedness, and over-vigilance/inhibition) and internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems. The findings indicated that the conformity subscale and the components of early maladaptive schemas could positively predict internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems in children. These findings can be applied in the etiology of behavioral problems and the development of preventive strategies.

Abstract Considering the significance of marital interactions in Islam, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between early maladaptive schemas, negative automatic thoughts, and domestic violence with marital disenchantment among housewives in Shiraz, based on an Islamic perspective. The research method was descriptive-correlational using a survey approach. The statistical population consisted of all housewives in Shiraz in the year 2022, from which 384 individuals were selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using the Early Maladaptive Schemas Questionnaire (Young, 2005), the Negative Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire (Hollon & Kendall, 1980), the Domestic Violence Questionnaire (Haj-Yahya, 1999), and the Marital Disenchantment Scale (Pines et al., 2016). Regression analysis results indicated that the three variables explained 22% of the variance in marital disenchantment. Domestic violence (B = 0.32, t = 6.985), early maladaptive schemas (B = 0.25, t = 5.437), and negative automatic thoughts (B = 0.09, t = 2.141) had the highest contributions, respectively. Furthermore, domestic violence mediated the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and negative automatic thoughts with marital disenchantment (p < 0.01). This research indicates that marital disenchantment results from the accumulation of inappropriate cognitive, emotional, and behavioral interactions, and its reduction requires simultaneous attention to both individual factors (such as schemas and negative thoughts) and interpersonal factors (such as violence), within the framework of Islamic principles. Domestic violence plays a dual role in this cycle, acting both as a cause and a consequence of cognitive-emotional interactions, thereby creating a vicious cycle. Emphasizing multilevel interventions from individual therapy to structural changes positions this study as a pioneering work in the field of family mental health.

Abstract The aim of this study was to predict parenting stress based on early maladaptive schemas and quality of marital life in mothers with children with special needs in Shiraz. The research method was descriptive. The statistical population included all mothers of children with children with specific needs in Shiraz, using a sampling method, 220 subjects were selected. They completed parent stress questionnaires, marital quality of life, and early maladaptive schemas. To analyze the hypotheses, multiple regression analysis was used. Results in the first hypothesis showed that the quality of marital life could predict the parents' stress in mothers with children with special needs. In the second hypothesis, early maladaptive schemas could predict the stress of parents of mothers with children with special needs. In the third hypothesis, two variables of quality of life in marriage and early maladaptive schemes have been able to predict the stress of parents of mothers with children with special needs.

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and characteristics of personality disorders among opioid-dependent women located in Shiraz centers addiction treatment. The research design was correlational. The statistical population of this study consisted of 43 opioid-dependent women located in Shiraz addiction treatment centers who were selected by available sampling method andanswered the Young Schema Questionnaire (1988) and Millon Clinical Multi-Axis Questionnai (1987) and analyzed with Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test for dependent groups and multivariate regression of the input model. The present study has 2 research questions about the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and characteristics of personality disorders, differences in early maladaptive schemas and characteristics of personality disorders among women. The results showed that there is a significant correlation between early maladaptive schemas and the characteristics of personality disorders. The results of multivariate regression of the entry model also showed that schemas are able to predict the characteristics of personality disorders and also about the differences in characteristics of personality disorders among addicted women, only antisocial personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder were significant.
